Nayab Singh Saini chosen Haryana BJP Legislative Party leader day before oath

Nayab Singh Saini was on Wednesday unanimously chosen as leader of the Haryana BJP Legislative Party ahead of being sworn in as the state’s Chief Minister tomorrow.
Saini’s name was announced by Union Home Minister Amit Shah at a ceremony in the BJP office in Panchkula.
Also present at the event were Saini’s predecessor and Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav BJP’s election in-charge for Haryana Dharmendra Pradhan and co-incharge for the state Biplab Deb.
On his part, Saini thanked the people of Haryana for “putting their faith in the policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and forming a BJP government for a historic third time” in the state.
“The people have resolved to carry forward the vision of Prime Minister Modi towards making a developed India by 2047,” he said.
Saini is scheduled to meet Haryana Governor Bandary Dattareya at 2 pm and stake claim to form the government.
Despite exit poll predictions, the BJP scripted a turnaround in Haryana and ended up with its best-ever haul of 48 of 90 Assembly seats. The Congress, which was eyeing a comeback, finished with 37 seats.
The two parties had contested all the 90 Assembly seats.
This is the first time in history that a party has come to power for a third consecutive term in Haryana.
Saini, who replaced Khattar as the Chief Minister of Haryana in March, was the BJP’s chief ministerial face in the Assembly polls.
The swearing-in ceremony will take place at 10.30 am on Thursday at the Parade Ground in Panchkula. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Ministers from other BJP-ruled states, as well as top party leaders will attend the event.
